Lindsay Arts

Our Mission

Lindsay Arts is dedicated to inspiring, educating, and connecting our community through the transformative power of the visual arts. Founded upon the rich history of the Lindsay Art Association—established in 1941 as a space for creative expression and cultural exchange—continuing a legacy of fostering artistic growth and community engagement across generations.

Our mission is to serve as responsible stewards of an important regional art collection while providing inclusive opportunities for artistic participation and cultural enrichment. Through exhibitions, educational programs, and community partnerships, we create an environment where the arts are accessible to all—regardless of background, experience, or age.

Housed in the historic former Lindsay Library, the Museum and Gallery symbolizes the union of past and future. It stands as a cultural cornerstone in the heart of California’s Central Valley, celebrating the region’s agricultural heritage while cultivating a thriving contemporary arts presence. By curating high-quality exhibitions that bring together local artists with those from Los Angeles and beyond, Lindsay Arts encourages dialogue about the evolving role of art in society—what it reveals, challenges, and transforms.

Our vision extends beyond exhibition walls. We aim to make Lindsay and its surrounding communities a recognized destination for the arts—where visitors can experience both the creative spirit and historical richness of the region. Through continued investment in programming, facilities, and education, we seek to:

  • Preserve and expand our permanent collection for future generations.

  • Support artists at every stage of their careers through exhibition, mentorship, and collaboration.

  • Offer arts education and hands-on learning opportunities to youth and adults alike.

  • Enhance the local economy through cultural tourism and community revitalization.

With ongoing community support and philanthropic partnership, the Lindsay Arts strives to meet museum-quality standards found in leading institutions across the nation. Every contribution helps us bring world-class art experiences to our rural community, empowering creativity, broadening perspectives, and ensuring that art continues to be a vital force in the cultural and economic life of the Central Valley.
